Onofrio M. Maragò
Director of IPCF Research Director - Messina
Research interest
Onofrio's research interests concerned optical trapping and manipulation (a topic linked to the Nobel Prize in Physics of 2018), the characterization of micro and nanoparticles, atoms, Bose-Einstein condensates. In general he has worked on the mechanical interaction between light and matter for applications in nanosciences, atomic physics, complex systems and soft-matter. Recently he has also dealt with systems whose dynamics can be artificially "activated" with light and with the study of trapped cosmic dust. He is co-author of the textbook “Optical Tweezers: Principles and Applications”, P. H. Jones, O. M. Maragò, G. Volpe, Cambridge University Press (2015).
