IPCF research activities that cover this strategic area are focused on the design of new organic and inorganic (and nano-structured) materials and systems for the solar energy conversion and for clean energy production.
The main activities are:
- Synthesis of nano-oxides and catalysts for the production of energy (photovoltaic, production of hydrogen via sustainable approaches)
- The design of third-generation photovoltaic devices: photo-electrochemical cells, dyes sensitized solar cells, perovskite-based solar cells, quantum solar cells, bi-facial and tandem solar cells
- The analysis of non-renewable resources depletion by means of the EROI (Energy Return On Investment) index
