Cristina De Monte
Researcher - Pisa
Research interests
Cristina’s research interests cover the design of new polymeric formulations, in order to use biomass from wastes of agroindustrial and manufacture (e.g., textile) industry. In the context of European or Regional Projects, she has worked at the development of low-impact processes for modification of the macromolecular structure of wood cellulosic fibres, of vegetable or animals’ proteins, of polysaccharides and natural oligomers, using them as dispersed or continuous phase of new blends or composites. She is also committed in divulgation activities, and since 2018 she is founder and member of the group WoW (Win on Waste), which comprises CNR staff from several institutes. She is also part of the Science Colloquia Team of IPCF. More recently, she addressed her research activity also toward experiments of degradability and aging of polymeric materials, performed in real marine environment.
