Research interests
My scientific activity is focused on the design and preparation of several multifunctional nanoparticle platforms for their exploitation in diagnostics and/or therapeutic applications. In particular, my research activity aims to develop two different nanovectors, potentially exploitable for the diagnostic and/or therapy of cancer or neurological diseases: Lab-produced synthetic nanocarriers, namely mesoporous silica (MSN), polymer or lipid based multifunctional nanoformulations for the co-delivery of colloidal nanoparticles and drugs; Natural cell-derived exosomes, isolated as physiological nanovehicles from plasma of oncological patients or cell culture media, whose composition and biological activity need to be deeply investigated before their use for delivery of endogenous agents.
