Pietro Giuseppe Gucciardi
Research Director - Messina
Research interests
Pietro G. Gucciardi obtained his PhD in physics from the University of Florence after graduating in Physics from the University of Pisa. He has extensive experience in scanning near field optical microscopy (SNOM) and plasmon-enhanced spectroscopy (SERS/TERS). His research includes the development of advanced instrumentation as a combination of optical tweezers with Raman/SERS spectroscopy for the analysis of single nanostructures, nanoplastics and the development of advanced nanobiosensors based on nanostructured materials, the synthesis of 2D materials with controlled properties. In 1997 he received the “Philip Morris Prize for Scientific and Technological Research” and the “CNR Prize for Research 2005”. He is co-editor of the book “Handbook of Enhanced Spectroscopy”, CRC Press 2015 and he is co-author of more than 140 scientific publications (data 2023).
