Duration: From 16 Oct 2023 to 15 Oct 2025 (2 years)

Principal Investigator: Claudia Giachino (University of Turin)

Contact person in IPCF: C. Cristallini

ERC Sectors: LS7_4 Regenerative medicine; PE5_7 Biomaterials synthesis; LS7_3 Nanomedicine

Keywords:tissue regeneration; biomaterials; cardiology; tissue engineering; cardiac remodelling; industrialisation

I-CARE project aims to meet technological needs in the cardiovascular field through the implementation of new functionalized bioartificial materials as a salient part of a therapeutic product (cardiac patch) having multiple actions: mechanical compliance, cardiac regeneration, protection from reperfusion damage and prevention from adverse process of left ventricle remodelling. The first line of our activity will concern the development of an industrializable method for the production of the cardiac patch already made in the form of a laboratory prototype. The second line, which will be conducted in parallel, will be aimed at the innovation of the cardiac patch for the treatment of patients suffering from chronic heart attack.
