Among bio-based and biodegradable polymers, furandicarboxylate-based polyesters have emerged as new interesting alternative to terephthalate-based polyesters. All the furandicarboxylate-based polyesters exhibit better mechanical, thermal, and gas barrier properties with respect to the homologous terephthalic-based polyesters. The study will be focused on the preparation of promising bio-based and biodegradable nanocomposites of furandicarboxylate-based copolymers, with attractive performances for potentially wide applications. The production of nanocomposites for specific advanced applications requires a detailed knowledge of the structure and properties of the interphases between the polymer and the nanofillers. Various nanofillers will be used for the preparation of the nanocomposites. The aim of the study will be to identify how various macroscopic properties of the bio-based and biodegradable nanocomposites of furandicarboxylate-based copolymers are differently influenced by distinct nanofillers parameters.
