In genale si occupa della sintesi di nanoparticelle inorganiche colloidali con controllo sulla forma, dimensione e fase cristallina, della loro funzionalizzazione mediante approcci di scambio di legante, incorporazione in polimeri funzionali, immobilizzazione su superfici mediante procedure di self-assembly, combinazione con derivati del grafene e della caratterizzazione chimico fisica delle nanostrutture ottenute per optoelettronica, applicazioni ambientali e per la biomedicina.
