text-align: justify;\">The Messina headquarters consists of 29 permanent staff units, including 15 researchers, 6 administrative collaborators, 6 technicians, 1 technologist and 10 temporary contract holders (RTD, PhD students and Research Fellows).<br \/><span style=\"color: #0a0a0a;\"><br \/>The research activities cover the synthesis\u00a0of nanomaterials by laser ablation (semiconductors and metals) and by phase exfoliation\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #0a0a0a; font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight );\">liquid (2D materials), for sensor applications (field-enhanced spectroscopy, <\/span><span style=\"color: #0a0a0a; font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight );\">Raman, SERS, TERS), for nanophotonics<\/span><span style=\"color: #0a0a0a; font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight );\"> and for the characterization of micro and nanoplastics by optical tweezers<\/span><span style=\"color: #0a0a0a; font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight ); color: #0a0a0a;\">artificial intelligence studies are ongoing to find optimized solutions to different problems both of <\/span><span style=\"font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif;
