Research interests

Research is currently directed on developing strategies for the colorimetric (bio)sensing, using as colorimetric reporters both enzyme assay products and nanomaterials. The research is focused on the design of new enzyme immobilization procedures and on the mechanism and forces involved in the interaction between gold nanoparticles and biomolecules/biosystems.

Research interest has also focused on studies of membrane protein functionality (electron transfer and cofactor binding) in amorphous matrices and mimetic membrane systems. Moreover, studies on surfactant-protein interactions and on protein thermal stability are probed by a set of techniques including Dynamic Light Scattering, Laser Doppler electrophoresis and Fluorescence Spectroscopy.

Keywords : Biosensor, Colorimetric detection, Enzyme immobilization, Gold nanoparticles, Membrane proteins, Amorphous matrices
