Research Activities
Currently she is involved in research activities dealing with the synthesis of oxide, metal and semiconductor colloidal nanocrystals and nanoparticles, their surface functionalization and the characterization of hybrid materials based on nanoparticles in polymers or organic molecules for optoelectronic and photonic applications. The main activities include:
– Synthetic strategies towards highly luminescent emitting nanocrystals and oxides with good control on size, shape and crystalline phase
– Procedures for the preparation of magnetic, metal and metal oxide nanoparticles
– Surface functionalization of the nanocrystals by chemistry exchange procedures
– Strategies for nanocomposite preparation based on polymer or organic molecules and nanocrystals towards the fabrication of photonic or optoelectronic devices
– 2/3 D assembly of nanocrystals on substrates, obtaining new functional materials with tailored properties
Specific expertise in optical (UV-Vis-NIR absorption, photoluminescence, excitation photoluminescence, time resolved, non linear spectroscopies, absolute Quantum Yield) and morphological (AFM, profilometry, SEM) characterizations of colloidal nanocrystals, hybrid materials and nanocomposites, both in solution and in thin films.
