Lombardo Giuseppe

Giuseppe Lombardo is an Electronic Engineer with a PhD in Electronics and a Master degree in Biomedical Engineer. Currently, he is research at National Research Council and works at Institute of Chemical and Physical Process (IPCF).
His main scientific interests are in the field of biomedical engineer and applied physics and in particular:
- Design and develop electro-optics setup for the biomechanical and optical characterization of ocular tissue and soft matter material;
- Linear and non linear optical microscopy for functional and structural characterization of ocular tissue;
- Adaptive optics system for in vivo retinal imaging;
- Design and develop numerical algorithm for the behavior simulation of soft matter material subject to external field (mechanical and electrical);
- Design and develop pattern recognition, image processing and machine learning algorithm for the analysis of biomedical images;
- Design and develop of embedded system for 4.0 Industrial Internet of Things;
- Design of solar and geothermal micro-cogenerator;
Eng. Lombardo è is keen in technological transfer matter and protection of intellectual property. In this field he has huge experiences since 2004. In particular:
- From 2006 to 2010, he was in charge as Scientific Manager of the CNR-Incubator Technest at Calabria University;
- From 2006 to 2010, he co-founded a start-up, Innova Solar Energy Solutions SPA. He managed the R&D activities for the design and develop of solar co-generator concentrator system and 3D laser scanner system;
- From 2014 to 2017 he was Project manager at DSFTM-CNR;
- From 2014, he is co-founded of an innovative sme, Vision Engineering Italy srl, which aims to design and develop novel methods and devices for treating ocular diseases.
Eng. Lombardo has published 90 papers in peer-reviewed journals, n. 7 patents and serves as reviewer for more than 15 journals. He was awarded to “premio nazionale sulle applicazioni di cristalli liquidi” (2000), “camera di commercio nella categoria risultati scientifici di rilevanza applicativa” (2008). Moreover with his last innovative SME, he was awarded to “Premio Gaetano Marzotto” (2016), “Unicrideti Start-lab” (2017), “BootCamp StartupOnStage” (Intesa San Paolo-2017) and “Edizione del Premio Open Innovative PMI” (2017)
